The Cactus

In joy I will laugh,

In sadness I will weep,

In anguish I will sacrifice;

For passion is blind:

And as poets have written

It is from fools we will learn wisdom.

As I walked by and past

Seeing many roses.. .  .

Some I touched, some I smelled

but none had I picked until-

The beauty prevailed

The scent like no other

For passion is blind

so I saw no other

than what I planted in my heart.

Just like a dream I had joy

and in joy I laughed,

But not for long;

For all dreams fade away

so did the laugh to weeping

as I wept in sadness

as I watched the rose change:

From a smooth rose

to a thorny rose

then into a pricking cactus !

Thorns grew day by day

Pricking without rest

towards the destiny of death

and in the heart there was anguish

and in anguish I sacrificed;

part of my heart

torn with the removal of a hurting plant.

I was a fool

So I will write for all to see

To gain wisdom from a fool

a hurting fool who

let his eyes be blinded by passion.
